Anglers hands are often the most exposed and used part of the body. The harsh salt, sun and abrasion can be tough on anglers hands. A wide range of gloves are on the market to protect hands from all the elements. Special gloves are available for fileting fish that protect from the blade of a knife with Kevlar fibers woven in. Jigging gloves leave the fingertips exposed but provide full protection to the index finger and the palm. Leadering gloves can be any general fishing glove, but some have specific padding and protection on the sides and back of the hand for the protection needed when wrapping heavy leader. When leadering pelagic species look for specifically designated wiring or leadering glove. Remember to always wrap mono correctly when leadering to avoid injury.
